NOVEMBER 2023

TOPIC OF THE MONTH

We hit our goal for the Fun Run, raising over $90,000 to support our dedicated teachers and the education of our children. We have dispersed about $34,000 to the teachers for field trips, assemblies, different projects and more. More information will be coming soon regarding movie night, and the after dark party if your child reached those goals.

Soon we will be starting our “Ridges Gives Back” program for the holiday season. If interested in helping or have any resources or ideas, please reach out to us! We would love your help!

PAC SHOUT-OUT!

Diana has been a part of our PAC for 7 years, initially serving as the Hospitality Coordinator. When she's not dedicating her time to PAC, you'll often find her on the soccer field, either watching her 4th & 6th grade kids play or passionately supporting the Portland Thorns.

Hello Wolves,

There will be a PAC meeting on Tuesday at 7pm in the library.  All are welcome, including your children. Come late, leave early, whatever works for you and your family.

The fun run movie night is this Friday November 8th. Doors open at 6 and we’ll be watching Toy Story 4.  This movie night is only for students who raised $200 or more. Permission slips were due back Friday the 1st. If you have any questions at all please email edyridgefunrun@gmail.com

The Student Store is back and will be open every early release Wednesday morning from 7:30-7:50.

Thursday, November 21st at 6pm our principal Mrs. Johnson will be doing a story time for whoever wants to join at MudPuddles toy store here in Sherwood.  We’d love to see as many Edy kids as we can that night and were also hoping to have an appearance from Wolfie.

We are still looking to fill a few positions.  Fun Run Shadows is seriously the most important spot to fill.  Please contact myself or edyridgefunrun@gmail.com with any questions you may have.  Grab a few friends and make it a group project!

Wolf Club Track Pack is a great way for the kids to get their wiggles out and feel accomplished in the spring, please consider heading up this program.

Quick note

Hello Wolves,

Please be patient with us as we try to get everyone's background check cleared and  put into the volunteer computer in the office. Our volunteer coordinator is hard at work getting everyone set.  No small feat for one person!! If you haven't had a chance to fill out your background check yet there is no time like the present.  It takes about 3 minutes, is free, and MUST be done in order to come into the classroom, or go on field trips. A new one is required every year.

This week kicks off our first book fair of the year! No matter what your age, some of the happiest memories of elementary school revolve around the Book Fairs. It’s easy to forget just how influential — and how much fun — it was to be able to buy books you choose yourself! Here are a few reasons to volunteer at our Edy Ridge Book Fair:

  • To share the joy of reading with children

  • To help our library bring in money to buy new books (We earn up to 50% of our fair sales)

  • To refresh your fondest memories of bygone days when you couldn’t wait for the next Book Fair

  • To shop the Book Fair with your child

  • To earn a $5.00 Book Fair Certificate for each shift worked

Good Morning Wolves,

You should have seen your child's fun run envelope come home with their Friday Folder yesterday.  These are due back no later than October 10th. We have a lot of fun and exciting incentives for the kids this year that I'm sure you heard all about last night. As per usual Fun Run is an awesome event that can't be done without some parent volunteers.  Please check out our sign up sheet below. I will say that for obvious reasons the hardest spot to fill is always Wolfie. If you're feeling the urge to really show up and help that would an impactful spot, as its the kids favorite thing to high five him as they run by,

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094fa4aa23a4f58-funrun

At back to school night I mentioned a few programs that are going to get cut if we don’t have anyone to help and the first one is Chess Club.  The wonderful person who has run it for the past few years is moving soon but here right now to help the new person get it started. This is so much easier than walking in fresh and having no idea where to begin.  If your child has been on chess team in previous years or wants to get started this year can you help out? Or even get another parent to share the responsibility with you? Chess club generally starts the first week of October and if we dont get someone within the next week or so I'm sad to say that Edy will lose one of our school clubs. Email me with any questions and I can connect you with the woman who has run the program in previous years. She really doesn’t want to see it go and is more than happy to help out for the first little while.

Background checks, have you done yours? Field trips are coming up fast and you don’t want to miss out because you haven't filled out something that seriously only takes 3 minutes.  Please remember that you have to do a new one EVERY year. It does not carry over.

Week One Down, Forty to go

We hope everyone had a great first week back and were able to fall back into that morning routine easily. Just wanted to quickly update you on a few things.

If you’re child is interested in Passpport Club please look through your friday folder, the flier went home this week for sign ups and information, there is also a link to the sign up under Edy Clubs on our new website,

https://www.edyridgepac.org

Speaking of the website you can also find a link to do your background check and create a user profile there. Please remember that you can not volunteer in the classroom, field trips, or anything else until that is complete. You need to do a new one each year, it takes 3 minutes and is free.

Fun Run is coming up fast! If you’re at all interested in helping please join us at the Fun Run meeting this Tuesday, September 10th at 6:30 in the community room. Fun Run is THE FUNDRAISER that gives back to the classrooms, students, teachers, and school. The more hands on deck, the easier and smoother it goes.

Lastly we have positions open with the PAC this year. You can always co-chair, its easy to walk into something new if you drag a semi willing friend along.

We need a co chair for Hospitality. This is such a fun role! Really lets you get creative and spoil the teachers

We need shadows for FUN RUN, in a perfect world you would shadow the ladies that do it this year then next year technically be in charge but theyll be in the background helping you along the way. Way better alternative than jumping in when they have left the school and arent available to help at all.

Sherwood For Kids Sake chair. This is a feel good deal. You make a sign up sheet for all the items kids in Sherwood are asking for and need and wait for our awesome Edy families to fulfill those needs.

In the Spring well need help with Wolf Club Track Pack and building some new games for Carnival, but we’ll cross that bridge as it comes. Please email me with any question you may have at Edyridgewolfpac@gmail.com

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND WOLVES
