Thursday, March 12th is our Dine Out Night at Red Robin! If you're looking for dinner plans and would like to help our school at the same time, Red Robin is the place to be! Kindergarten open house is also March 12th. Families with incoming Kindergarten students are welcome to stop by any time between 4-6 pm to visit our Kindergarten classrooms and learn more about our Kinder program

PAC SHOUT OUT!

David Raver is Ridges perfectly popped popcorn pioneer! He is always working hard to ensure that our students and staff all have the best popcorn on the highly anticipated Popcorn Fridays, as well as events like movie nights, Neon Dance, and more! Adding to the list of all that he does, David helps us bring Wolfie to life in his signature style. David has 2 daughters that attend Ridges and enjoys hiking, backpacking, baking, cooking, and any outdoor activities with his girls.

TOPICS OF THE MONTH

On April 21st from 5-7 PM, we’re excited to start a new event, the Ridges Global Family Night! This event is to honor and learn more about the culture and heritage of the community. We need the help of the Ridges families and students to host a table to decorate and display artifacts representing their culture.

This event will have many fun activities throughout the night including “passports” to travel and visit tables, an Art Walk, food trucks, and a video of performances from our Ridges community. Reach out to TaMara Glavan (tglavan@sherwood.k12.or.us) with questions or to sign up.

Kindergarten Open House is coming up March 12th 4-6PM.

Meet Bill — our amazing PAC Treasurer! Bill has been a dedicated PAC board member since 2019, and this year is a special (and bittersweet) one as his kids are now in 5th and 6th grade — his last year with us at Ridges. He’s our voice of reason when it comes to spending… including knowing when it’s worth a good splurge!

When he’s not volunteering with PAC, Bill enjoys the outdoors, international travel, trying new foods, and cheering on his kids at their after school activities. Thank you, Bill, for everything you’ve given our PAC and school community!

Welcome back Ridges Wolves! We hope you all enjoyed your winter break with friends and family. We know December was busy for everyone and we have so much to share that’s resulted from it! Because of the Sherwood community, the SHARE Center holiday gift drive served 263 kids and 119 families this Christmas. We loved seeing all the donations you brought in. 🎁

Have you checked out the new Jamba in town? Next Tuesday January 13th is the perfect day to stop in as 40% of sales from 2PM to close comes back to Ridges!

Mark your calendars for the Ridges BINGO Night scheduled for Friday January 23! Doors open at 6PM, Bingo starts at 6:30PM. Look for more details in the coming weeks.

The Kids Helping Kids Gift Drive is happening now for the holiday season! 🎁 All donations will support the SHARE Center, which helps families in need right here in our Sherwood community. Wishlist donations can be found at the link provided or donations can be made through Venmo to @RidgesPAC (add note Kids Gift Drive). Donations need to be received by 12/16.

Another great way to get involved is through our participation in the YMCA Help Us Fill the Bag, food collection for local families. Non-perishable and non-expired items are encouraged, especially higher proteins such as peanut butter, beans, chili, soups, tuna, canned chicken, pasta and boxed meals. Mac & cheese, protein bars and other kid friendly items are great too! Donations are accepted in the front vestibule.

PAC NEWS!

Meet Candee, who wears many hats. Not only does she lead the charge on all decor, she’s also the Art Lit coordinator! If you’ve noticed a balloon arch, bulletin board, or decor for the Ridges Fair, the chances are Candee did it!

As the Art Lit Coordinator, Candee selects the lessons, sources supplies, teaches the parent volunteers and supports each and every lesson. This is a program we’re so happy to provide to students. If she’s not at the school, you’ll find her supporting her 4th grade twins at dance, baseball or BMX.

  • We can’t thank you enough for your fundraising and donations to the Ridges Fun Run! Our goal was to raise $90k and we exceeded $100k! These funds help support teachers classroom supplies, field trips, library books, art lit and so much more. Prize levels details will be coming soon.

  • We have two fundraisers this month with local businesses to checkout! On Tuesday 11/18, MOD Pizza is giving 25% back of all orders with code MODGIVES25. Visit Mudpuddles between 11/17-11/23 for 20% back to the school by mentioning Ridges!

Our Hospitality Team, Tera and Victoria, bring so much warmth to Ridges! They plan and organize meals for staff during conferences, coordinate Staff Appreciation Week and the year-end luncheon, and make sure every staff member feels celebrated with birthday cards and small gifts throughout the year. Their behind-the-scenes efforts make a big difference—thank you, Tera and Victoria! 💙

  • This Friday is our annual Ridges Fun Run! Student’s run laps around the track and fundraise for the school. This is by far our largest fundraiser of the year which supports the students and teachers at Ridges helping fund field trips, music materials, STEM supplies, library books, art literacy, and so much more!

🏃‍♂️ Get Ready for the 2025 FUN RUN! 🏃‍♀️

Our school’s primary fundraiser of the year is happening Friday, October 3! Fundraising packets will go home September 26 and are due back October 8. This year we’re aiming for $90k to support classrooms, field trips, playground additions, music, STEM, and more. All are welcome to come cheer on the kids too!

We’re excited to share the Cless Club and Passport Club officially wrapped up their first year since relaunching - and what an incredible first year it has been! Thanks to the outstanding leadership of Larry (Chess Club) and Betsy (Passport Club), these programs came back stronger than ever, inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness of our students. We are so grateful for their dedication and passion.

Meet Betsy (L) and Larry (R)! Betsy re-launched our Passport Club and Larry our Chess Club. Passport Club had around 44 members, met once a month and learned the location of countries and some culture. Chess club had 99 members, from beginners to more skilled. They met once a week to practice and also competed in four chess tournaments throughout the season. Betsy has 3 kids, 2 daughters (soon to be 5th and 3rd) and a son in pre-k. She enjoys reading, dancing, gardening, and traveling with her family. Larry has 2 daughters (soon to be 2nd and 9th ) and enjoys golf, and being outside with his family and their animals.

Meet our new volunteer coordinators starting the 2025-26 school year, Kari(left) and Tamsen (right). Kari joined PAC this school year and has been shadowing Lindsey and Lisa learning all the things. Kari has 3 kids (1 grade, pre-k, and 22months) and enjoys designing, reading, paddle boarding and quality family time. Tamsen just started with PAC, but is catching on quick. She has 2 kids (Kinder and 1 yr) and enjoys crafting, hiking, wine tasting and traveling. Please give them a warm welcome when you see them or hear from them.

  • A GIANT thank you to everyone who donated food at the Neon dance! We collected 606lbs of perishable food items for the Willowbrook Food Pantry here in Sherwood. 3rd grade brought in the most items and earned an extra recess!

  • RIDGES FAIR is coming up on May 16th. We are actively planning and would love to invite others to join in the fun. We’re also seeking volunteers to assist with making cotton candy, co-chairing the food booth, or helping with ticket sales. A Sign-Up Genius is in the works so keep your eyes peeled for that on our Facebook page, Principal Johnson’s weekly email and teacher emails.
